SAN FRANCISCO — Two employees have filed a class action lawsuit against Dollar Tree, alleging breach of contract and unfair business practices.

Lovely Nakooka and Elva Reyes filed a complaint, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, July 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Dollar Tree Stores Inc., and Does 1-10, alleging they failed to reimburse their employees for work-related expenses.

According to the complaint, Nakooka and Reyes suffered monetary damages from having to pay for their own uniforms for work. The plaintiffs allege the defendants refused to reimburse them for necessary business expenditures.

Nakooka and Reyes seek trial by jury, wages, penalties, interest, restitution, injunction against the defendant, legal fees, and any other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Carey A. James of Aiman-Smith & Marcy in Oakland.
