Aerial photographer accuses competitors of copyright infringement

LOS ANGELES — A California aerial photographer is suing competitors, alleging copyright infringement.

Craig Schmitman of Ventura County filed a complaint July 10 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Jenelle Iuliucci, Joe Iuliucci, Patricia Matthew, Keller Williams Realty, Vegas Reo Services, LLC, Large Vision I LLC and Does 1-10, alleging they illegally copied plaintiff's works without authority.

According to the complaint, Schmitman suffered damages from having his copyrighted work copied without his consent. The plaintiff alleges the defendants illegally copied and publicly displayed Schmitman's work on their websites.

Schmitman seeks trial by jury, enjoin the defendants, punitive damages, statutory damages, disgorgement, all profits, alegal fees, interest, actual damages, maximum statutory damages under the Copyright Act of $25,000, and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Eric D. Ridley of Law Offices of Eric D. Ridley in Port Hueneme, California.
