LOS ANGELES — The U.S. government is suing a debtor, alleging she owes more than $4,000. 

The United States of America filed a complaint July 10 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Maria Vasquez, alleging she failed to settle her debt with the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the United States suffered monetary damages due to unpaid debt. It alleges Vasquez failed to pay the principal amount of her debt plus interest.

The U.S. government seeks the principal amount of $2,824.07, plus interest of $1,636.40, with further interest at 8 percent per year, penalties/administrative charges of $56.48, legal fees and alk other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Michael L. Goldsmith of Goldsmith & Hull in Northridge, California.
