Employee accuses prosthetics business of discrimination

Wrongful term 09

SACRAMENTO — A Placer County woman is suing a prosthetics business, alleging discrimination retaliation, and wrongful termination.

Susanna Palma filed a complaint July 28 the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics, alleging the defendant allowed the plaintiff be harassed during her employment.

According to the complaint, Palma, 56, who began working for Hanger in 1995, suffered damages from being harassed, which caused her to go on a medical leave due to stress, anxiety and depression. The plaintiff alleges Hanger terminated her employment in January 2016 in retaliation for Palma going on a medical leave.

Palma seeks trial by jury, general, special and consequential damages, exemplary damages, all legal fees, interest, economic damages, non-economic damages, and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Mark P. Velez and Samantha J. Tanner of The Velez Law Firm, PC in Roseville.
