Korean business accuses California competitor of copyright infringement

LOS ANGELES — A South Korean business is suing a California competitor, alleging copyright infringement.

Wongab Corporation filed a complaint Aug. 10 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Arcadia Group Ltd., individually and doing business as "Top Shop," and Does 1-10, alleging they illegally copied and reproduced the plaintiff's fabric design.

According to the complaint, Wongab suffered damages to its business from having its fabric design copied and used on other products. The plaintiff alleges the defendants sell garments made out of fabrics that bear the plaintiff's design.

Wongab seeks trial by jury, enjoin the defendant, award all profits, monetary advantage, enhance and elevated damages, all legal fees, interest and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Scott Alan Burroughs, Trevor W. Barrett and Justin M. Gomes of Doniger/ Burroughs in Venice.
