Los Angeles fabrics business accuses garment vendors of copyright infringement

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles fabrics business is suing garment vendors, alleging copyright infringement.

Star Fabrics Inc. filed a complaint Aug. 25 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Royal Concepts Inc., Francesca's Collections, Inc. and Does 1 through 10, alleging they illegally copied and reproduced the plaintiff's textile designs.

According to the complaint, Star Fabrics suffered damages from having its textile designs copied without consent. The plaintiff alleges the defendants sells garments made out of fabrics that bear the plaintiff's designs.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant, all profits, statutory damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as this court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Stephen M. Doniger and Howard S. Han of Doniger/ Burroughs in Venice, California.
