SAN FRANCISCO — A New York man is suing a California company, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.
Bradley La Force filed a complaint Sept. 1 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against GoSmith Inc. of Menlo Park and Does 1-25, alleging they sent unsolicited text messages to the plaintiff's cellular telephone.
According to the complaint, La Force suffered damages from receiving unwanted text messages on his cellular phone. The plaintiff alleges the defendants illegally sent auto-dialed text messages to La Force without his consent.
La Force seeks trial by jury, $500 for each violation, treble damages of $1,500, injunctive relief, and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by attorney Chuck Marshall of Marshall Law Firm in Walnut Creek.
