Customer alleges Wells Fargo violated telephone privacy statute

SAN FRANCISCO — A San Mateo County man is suing Wells Fargo, alleging violation of telephone harassment statutes.

John Hall filed a complaint Sept. 1 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Wells Fargo Bank NA, alleging the defendant violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by illegally calling the plaintiff several times on his cellular telephone.

According to the complaint, Hall suffered damages from receiving several unwanted calls on his cellular phone. The plaintiff alleges Wells Fargo illegally used an automated telephone dialing system to call Hall.

Hall seeks trial by jury, statutory damages of $500 per violation, treble damages of $1,500, actual and statutory damages, actual and punitive damages, and all other relief the court deems just.
