LOS ANGELES — A California jewelry company is suing a Virginia diamond and gem and diamond business, alleging copyright infringement and unfair competition.
Tacori Enterprises of Glendale, California, filed a complaint Sept. 13 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against GEDC Corporation, doing business as Boyer's Diamond & Gold Source, and Does 1-10, alleging the defendants sell jewelry that was copied from the plaintiff's designs.
According to the complaint, Tacori Enterprises suffered damages to its business from having its designs illegally copied. The plaintiff alleges the defendants illegally sell jewelries that were copied from the Tacori Crescent collection.
Tarcori Enterprises seeks trial by jury, enjoin the defendant, damages, profits, disgorgement, actual damages, statutory damages up to $150,000 for each copyrighted work, exemplary and punitive damages, all profits, legal fees and any other relief the court deems just.
