FRESNO — A Connecticut insurer is suing Fresno defendants, alleging an unpaid debt of nearly $185,000.

Hartford Underwriters Insurance Company filed a complaint Aug. 30 in Fresno County Superior Court against Tiffany Mae Cable, Lacey Deel and Does 1-30, alleging they breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, Hartford Underwriters has suffered financial harm from being obligated to pay $184,898.74 to the insured for damages to property and injuries suffered, as a result of the carelessness and unlawfulness of the defendants which resulted in a collision that involved Hartford Underwriters' insured motorist, Peter Ramirez. The suit says on Sept. 4, 2015, at the intersection of Herndon and Maple Avenues in Fresno, the defendants' vehicle caused a crash that injured Ramirez,

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed and refused to pay in full any part of the claim under the insured's assignment of the right to recovery, and caused Hartford Underwriters to retain services and pay for legal fees.

Hartford Underwriters Insurance seeks trial by jury, judgment for the principal sum of $184,898, plus interest, costs of suit and all further relief the court deems proper. It is represented by attorney Dean P. Sperling of Law Office of Dean P. Sperling in Irvine.
