Former employee accuses furniture business of wrongful termination

Wrongful term 01

FRESNO — A Fresno County man is suing a California furniture business, alleging retaliation, unpaid wages, and wrongful termination.

Lionel Reyes filed a complaint Nov. 6 in Fresno County Superior Court against Mor Furniture For Less, Inc. and Does 1-50, alleging they failed to provide employees their proper wages, benefits and incentives.

According to the complaint, Reyes worked for Mor Furniture delivery furniture to warehouses from June 2, 2002, until he was wrongfully terminated April 5, 2017. The suit says Reyes has suffered damages from being wrongfully and illegally terminated for complaining about the unpaid overtime hours he worked, about missing his meal and rest breaks because of the heavy work load, and the extreme pressure from his manager to complete deliveries on time.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to compensate plaintiff with premium wages for the missed meal and rest breaks, failed to compensate for all overtime hours that Reyes worked and reported, retaliated against Reyes by increasing his workload and eventually terminated his employment.

Reyes seeks trial by jury. special, exemplary and punitive damages, interest, costs of suit, restitution of all monies due the plaintiff and disgorgement of profits from the defendant's unlawful business practices. He is represented by attorney Eric P. Oren of Law Offices of Eric P. Oren Inc. in Fresno.
