Couple alleges negligent motorist caused crash, injuries

Car accident 03

FRESNO — A couple is suing a motorist, alleging loss of consortium and negligence.

Gary Joel and Angela Joslin filed a complaint Nov. 17 in Fresno County Superior Court against Justin Lewis Randle and Debbie Shirley, alleging they failed to exercise standard care and skill required in operating a vehicle.

According to the complaint, o Christmas Day 2015, Joel was operating a motor vehicle along with passenger Joslin on George Smith Road in Fresno County. The suit says Randle, also traveling northbound in a vehicle owned by Shirley, failed to stop in response to Gary Joel's left-turn signal and crashed his car into Joel's vehicle.

As a result of the defendants' negligence, Joel and Joslin say they were injured in their health, strength, and activity. The suit says they sustained injuries to their body and a shock to their nervous systems, suffered great mental, physical, and nervous pain and suffering, and incurred medical and incidental expenses.

Also, Angela Joslin says she suffered the loss of love, companionship, comfort, protection society, and moral support of her husband.

The plaintiffs allege Randle and Shirley failed to adequately maintain and operate a motor vehicle so as not to cause harm, and breached their duty of care by allowing a motor vehicle to be used for negligent operation.

Joslin and Joel seek trial by jury, compensatory damages of more than $25,000, costs of suit, and all such relief as is fair and just. They are represented by attorney Jeffrey D. Bohn of Accident, Injury and Medical Malpractice Attorneys of California APC in Fresno.
