Disabled man accuses Pasadena property owner of discrimination

Wheelchair 03

LOS ANGELES — A disabled man is suing a Pasadena property owner, alleging disability discrimination and failure to uphold Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.

Chris Langer, a disabled man who requires a wheelchair, filed a complaint Dec. 13 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Rosa United Investments Inc., Diamond Parking Services LLC, and Does 1-10, alleging they failed to provide full and safe equal access to their facilities.

According to the complaint, in September 2016, Langer  suffered difficulty, discomfort and/or embarrassment while attempting to utilize the defendants' parking facility at 913 Boston Court, Pasadena, because of their failure to make reasonable modifications and remove architectural barriers to accommodate persons with disabilities.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, or procedures, failed to remove architectural barriers, and failed to make alterations to make the facility readily accessible.

Langer seeks trial by jury, damages injunctive relief, actual damages and a statutory minimum of $4,000, attorney fees, litigation expenses and costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Isabel Masanque of Center For Disability Access in San Diego.
