Disabled woman alleges Fresno restaurant fails to follow ADA standards

Wheelchair 04

SACRAMENTO — A disabled Fresno County woman is suing the owner and operators of a Fresno restaurant, alleging disability discrimination.

Rachel Bryant, who requires the use of a wheelchair, filed a complaint Dec. 21 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against Yosemite Ranch Investors LLC, doing business as Yosemite Ranch Steak, Seafood & Roast House, and Carlulu V LLC, alleging violation of the Americas with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 24, Bryant visited Yosemite Ranch Steak, Seafood & Roast House for the purpose of having dinner. Bryant says she encountered barriers that interfered with, if not outright denied her as a disabled individual, the ability to use and enjoy the goods, services, privileges and accommodations offered at the restaurant.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to remove the facility's barriers and violated the ADA by failing to make the required services available through alternative methods that are readily available.

Bryant seeks trial by jury, injunctive and preventive relief, statutory minimum damages of $4,000 for each offense, attorney fees, litigation expenses, costs of suit and all further relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Zachary M. Best of Mission Law Firm APC in San Jose.
