LOS ANGELES – A man alleges a Los Angeles liquor and convenience store doesn't comply with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.
Juan Briseno filed a complaint on Dec. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Daljeet Singh, doing business as D&D Liquor, and Does 1-10 alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff has a physical disability and requires the use of a wheelchair. The suit states he visited the defendant's property in March and June and encountered barriers there that interfered with his ability to use the goods, services and privileges at the property.
The plaintiff holds Singh, doing business as D&D Liquor, and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to comply with standards for disability-designated parking spaces.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants for statutory, general and treble damages, preliminary and permanent injunction, restitution, attorney’s fees, litigation expenses, costs of suit, interest and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jason Yoon and John Y. Kim of So. Cal. Equal Access Group in Los Angeles.
