FRESNO — A couple is suing a motorist, alleging negligence in causing a crash.
Joshua I. Escano and Marissa Escano filed a complaint Dec. 18 in Fresno County Superior Court against Ana Cecilia Rauda, Jorge Bueno and Does 1-20, alleging they failed to exercise standard care and skill in the operation of a motor vehicle.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 31, 2015, Joshua Escano was operating a 201 Toyota Corolla with Marissa Escano as his passenger along the intersection of Academy Avenue and Rose Avenue in Selma, California. The suit says Rauda, with the permission and knowledge of each of the other defendants, negligently operated a 2006 Mazda 6 by running a stop sign and colliding with the plaintiffs' vehicle.
As a result, the Escanos say they were hurt and injured in their health, strength and activity, and sustained great mental and physical pain, suffering and nervousness.
The plaintiffs allege Rauda failed to stop at the posted stop sign, failed to pay attention to traffic and failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles.
The Escanos seek trial by jury, general damages for loss of earnings and incurred medical expenses, costs of suit and all further relief the court deems proper. They are represented by attorney Randi Saul-Olson of McKinney, Wainwright & Saul-Olson, Attorneys At Law in Visalia.
