LOS ANGELES — A disabled man who requires use of a wheelchair, is suing Gardena property owners, alleging disability discrimination, and violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
Bryan Williams filed a complaint Jan. 15 in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Paul Y. Chung, Sue C. Chung, Dr. Harry S. Kim and Does 1-10, alleging they failed to provide full and safe equal access to their facilities.
According to the complaint, in September 2017, Williams suffered from discrimination and injury due to the architectural barriers that exist at the 15400 Crenshaw Ave., Gardena, property owned by the defendants. The suit says the barriers prevent persons with disabilities like Williams from full and equal access to the facilities.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to make alterations to areas of the facility to accommodate individuals with disabilities, and failed to remove architectural barriers where such removal is readily achievable.
Williams seeks trial by jury, injunctive, declaratory and all other appropriate relief under the ADA and the Unruh Act, including attorney fees, litigation expenses and costs of suit. He is represented by attorney Ross Cornell of Law Offices of Ross Cornell APC in Long Beach.
