FRESNO — A motorcycle operator is suing the U.S. Postal Service and one of its drivers, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Rhea Donohue filed a complaint Jan. 18 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California Fresno Division against the U.S. Postal Service, Pawanpreet Kaur and Does 1-50, alleging they failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 4, 2016, Donohue was cycling along Bullard Avenue in Fresno County. The suit says Kaur, driving a Postal Service vehicle, caused a collision by negligently failing to yield the right of way to Donohue, and driving directly in the path of the plaintiff's motorcycle.

As a result, Donohue says she sustained serious catastrophic injuries, loss of earnings, loss of use of property, and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to own, lease, manage, maintain and operate the vehicle so as not to cause injury to other motorists and the general public.

Donohue seeks trial by jury, economic and non-economic damages, interest and all further relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorneys Warren R. Paboojian and Adam B. Stirrup of Baradat & Paboojian Inc. in Fresno.
