LOS ANGELES — A man who uses a wheelchair is suing US Bank, alleging disability discrimination.
Jose Estrada filed a complaint on Jan. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against US Bank NA and Does 1-10, alleging that they failed to provide full and safe equal access to its facilities.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in October 2017 he went to a US Bank in Lynwood to cash a check, when he sustained difficulty and frustration because of the defendants' failure to provide facility or assistance to persons with disabilities such as the plaintiff.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly forced plaintiff to use a transaction counter meant for the general public and discriminated against the plaintiff due to the lack of accessible facilities.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; and seeks judgment against the defendants for damages and relief, actual damages and a statutory minimum of $4,000, attorney fees, litigation expenses and costs of suit.
