SAN DIEGO — A California corporation is suing a Spanish corporation alleging copyright infringement.
ScholarMD filed a complaint on Jan. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against Eric Tort, Mederic Ediciones, and Does 1-100, alleging that they took the plaintiff's copyrighted property and sold it without the company's consent.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it lost profits and business opportunities as the result of having its copyrighted property stolen by the defendents.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly sold the plaintiff's property from its website and refused to surrender said property to the plaintiff.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; It also seeks compensatory damages of at least $675,000; punitive damages; an order that the defendant to surrender all computer programs, operating systems, data, files, and all electronic or written materials; interest; court costs; and any further relief the court grants.
