LOS ANGELES – A disabled individual alleges a Los Angeles business did not have accessible parking.
Alfred Bernard filed a complaint on Jan. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Rigoberto Ramirez, doing business as Lakers Liquor, and Does 1 through 10 citing the Americans with Disabilities Act and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 26, 2017, and June 15, 2017, he visited the defendants' store. He alleges he encountered barriers that interfered with his ability to use the accommodations offered there.
The plaintiff holds Ramirez, doing business as Lakers Liquor, and Does 1 through 10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to adhere to requirements for parking spaces for the disabled.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunction against the defendants, damages, statutory damages, general damages, treble damages, court costs, restitution and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Kevin Hong of Advanced Disability Advocates in Los Angeles.
