Muni bus passenger alleges door closed on knee, caused black eyes

SAN FRANCISCO – A bus passenger alleges she was injured entering the bus because the doors closed on her.

Phris Keaton filed a complaint on April 3 in the Superior Court of California - County of San Francisco against the city and county of San Francisco, doing business as Muni and San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 23, 2017, she was boarding Muni bus No. 5594 from her bus stop at Larkin and Eddy streets when the defendant's Muni bus driver closed the front door to the bus on her right knee. She alleges the incident caused her to have bruises throughout her body, including two black eyes. 

The plaintiff seeks judgment for compensatory damages of more than $25,000, plus punitive damages, costs of suit, and such relief as is fair, just and equitable. She is represented by Bruce R. Bernstein of Law Office of Bruce R. Bernstein in San Francisco.
