Woman alleges pregnancy was factor in her termination by Sanofi US Services

Wrongful term 11

SAN FRANCISCO – An Orange County woman alleges she was harassed and discriminated against by her former employer because of her pregnancy.

Arpie Madenlian filed a complaint on April 9 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against Sanofi US Services Inc., Sanofi-Aventis US LLC, et al. alleging disability discrimination, sex/pregnancy discrimination and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for the defendants as a clinical sales specialist from 2012 to 2017 and worked remotely. She alleges after she announced her pregnancy in June 2016, she was treated differently and was targeted and harassed by the defendants.

The plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 20, 2017, she was caused to suffer harm, including lost wages and other compensation benefits, as a result of the unlawful employment practice of the defendants to terminate her employment in retaliation to her request for maternity leave and complaints of harassment and discrimination.

The plaintiff holds Sanofi US Services Inc., Sanofi-Aventis US LLC, et al. responsible because her pregnancy and maternity leave were motivating reasons for her termination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for general, special, compensatory, consequential and punitive damages; attorney's fees; costs of suit; and further relief as the court may deem just.

She is represented by Ronald W. Makarem, Jean-Paul Le Clercq and Nareen Melkonian of Makarem & Associates APLC in Los Angeles and Vache Thomassian and Caspar Jivalagian of KJT Law Group LLP in Glendale.
