Law money 09

SAN FRANCISCO – A Roseville woman alleges she was harmed by the actions of insurance agents.

Antoinette Zirkle filed a complaint on April 9 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against James Barnes; Adam Spiegelman, an individual and doing business as Spiegelman Wealth Management; and The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. alleging negligence, fraudulent concealment and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants sold her inappropriate insurance products. She alleges that the defendants "put her in a completely inappropriate annuity in order to gain commissions for themselves."

The plaintiff holds Barnes, Spiegelman and The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendants breached their obligations and fiduciary duties of care, reasonable inquiry and supervision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for compensatory, punitive and treble damages; attorney's fees; costs; damages for breach; restitution; rescission; penalties; interest; and other relief as the court may deem inappropriate. She is represented by Ingrid M. Evans of Evans Law Firm Inc. in San Francisco.
