SAN FRANCISCO – A man alleges he suffered brain injuries after falling through an open lightwell in the roof of a San Francisco building.
Brandon Garrett filed a complaint on April 23 in the Superior Court of California - County of San Francisco against Potrero Ventures LLC; Greenview Management Co. Inc.; Michael Huang; Jane C. Guan; Jian Ling Guan; and Does 1 to 50 alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 11, 2017, he was a guest and was lawfully on the roof owned and maintained by defendants when he allegedly fell into an open, unmarked and unguarded hole in the roof. As a direct proximate result, Garrett claims he suffered physical, mental, cognitive and emotional injuries, including severe traumatic brain injury, mental suffering and emotional distress.
The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to make the lightwell reasonably safe and prevent people from going onto the roof.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensatory and punitive damages according to proof, plus costs of suit, and for such relief as is fair, just and equitable. He is represented by M. Lawrence Lallande Sr. and Katrina N. Lallande of Lallande Law PLC in Long Beach.
