LOS ANGELES – A wheelchair user alleges a Compton restaurant failed to maintain the parking space for patrons with disabilities.

Sergio Munoz-Guzman filed a complaint on May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Brito Zacharias, doing business as Big Ray's Drive In, and Does 1-10 alleging that they violated the Americans with Disability Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 21 and April 5 he went to defendant's restaurant and encountered barriers there. He alleges the defendant failed to maintain the parking space designated for persons with disabilities and failed to post the required signage.

The plaintiff holds Zacharias, doing business as Big Ray's Drive In, and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to comply with the federal and state standards to provide safe and full access for the physically disabled.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order directing defendants to comply with the cited laws, award for all damages, attorney’s fees, litigation expenses, and costs and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Jason Yoon, John Y. Kim and Jason J. Kim of So. Cal. Equal Access Group in Los Angeles.
