FRESNO – The parents of a security guard who was fatally shot at a Fresno motel are seeking damages from the business.
Francine R. Williams and Carl Williams Jr. filed a complaint on May 24 in the Fresno County Superior Court against The Blackstone Group, doing business as Motel 6, Roman Escamilla and Does 1-50 alleging negligent supervision or training and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on April 13, 2017, their decedent and son Carl Allen Williams III, 25, was shot and died the next day. The suit states he was working as a security guard supervisor for Monument Security at the defendants' Motel 6 location in Fresno when he was shot.
The plaintiffs hold The Blackstone Group, Escamilla and Does 1-50 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to adequately or properly train its employees regarding guests' rights, conflict resolution and adherence to Motel 6 policies.
The plaintiffs seek judgment against defendants for general damages, funeral and burial expenses, interest, costs of suit, and further relief as the court may deem just. They are represented by Paul J. Pimentel of Tomassian, Pimentel & Shapazian in Fresno.
