FRESNO – A Fresno County company is alleged to have terminated an employee after he reported alleged drug dealing during company time.

Lawrence Cano filed a complaint on May 31 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Powers Electric Products Co., et al. alleging whistleblower discrimination and retaliation and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendants in April 2013. He alleges in March 2017, he reported to a supervisor that he believed another employee was dealing drugs during company time and while using a company truck. He alleges after he reported this, he was harassed and was terminated in October 2017.

The plaintiff holds Powers Electric Products Co., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly discriminated, retaliated and terminated him in retaliation for reporting illegal practices happening in the workplace.

The plaintiff seeks award of monetary, statutory, exemplary and punitive damages and for such other relief as the court deems just and proper and allowed by law or equity. He is represented by Kari L. Ley of The Law Office of Kari L. Ley in Clovis.
