LOS ANGELES – A Nigerian corporation alleges it is owed $210,000 it paid to have boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. make celebrity appearances that never occurred.

Zinni Media Concept Limited filed a complaint on July 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Floyd Mayweather Jr., The Money Team, One Entertainment, and Keane Anis alleging breach of contract, fraud and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in April 2017, Anis, acting as an agent on behalf of the defendants, contacted the plaintiff for a celebrity engagement agreement for Mayweather to make appearances in Africa in June 2017. The suit states the plaintiff agreed, and the proposal required it to pay Mayweather $75,000 for each appearance and arrange for hotel and travel accommodations.

The suit states in June 2017, Mayweather canceled the appearances. The plaintiff alleges another appearance agreement was reached in November 2017 that was terminated the same month.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants have not refunded the $210,000 it wired to them.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount to be determined at trial, legal interests, attorney’s fees, costs and disbursements. They are represented by Patrick O’keke of O’keke & Associates PC in Brooklyn, New York; Okechukwu Valentine Nnebe of Nnebe & Associates PC in Brooklyn, New York; and Kenechi R. Agu of Law Offices of Kenechi R. Agu in Torrance.
