Betts alleged to have terminated female employee over harassment complaints

Lawsuits
Wrongful term 08

FRESNO – A woman alleges she was terminated by her Fresno County employer because she reported sexual harassment in the workplace.

Sherina Saki Vincent filed a complaint on June 11 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Betts Co., Sam Holmes and Does 1-50 alleging sexual harassment and violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by Betts in December 2015 in the marketing department. She alleges beginning in March 2017, Holmes engaged in a pattern of sexual harassment toward her. She alleges she reported the harassment to Betts' human resources department in September 2017 and nothing was done. The suit states she was terminated March 13.

The plaintiff holds Betts Co., Holmes and Does 1-50 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to take steps to prevent the harassment and retaliated against her by terminating her because of her complaints.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for general and punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs of suit and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Boris Koron and Daniel J. Podolsky of Koron & Podolsky LLP in Sherman Oaks.
