FRESNO – A woman alleges she needed additional surgery and medical care after her bladder was ruptured during an outpatient surgery.
Christina Caradonna filed a complaint on June 12 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Michael Illingsworth, M.D.; Central Valley OB/GYN Medical Group; and Does 1-100 alleging medical malpractice.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 21, 2017, Illingsworth performed an outpatient laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis on her. She alleges she was discharged the same day and the day after, her stomach was bloated and she had issues urinating. She went to the Clovis Community Hospital on March 24, 2017, and needed emergency surgery because of a ruptured bladder.
The plaintiff holds Illingsworth, Central Valley OB/GYN Medical Group and Does 1-100 responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly inform plaintiff of the risk of complications from the surgery, failed to perform procedure with utmost care so as not to cause injury to plaintiff's bladder or other organs.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants for general damages, medical and related expenses, loss of earnings, interest, costs and other damages, and further relief as the court may deem just. She is represented by Jerrie S. Weiss of Jerrie S. Weiss Law in Thousand Oaks.
