FRESNO – A man visiting his in-laws in Reedley alleges he was bitten by a dog owned by a neighbor while there.

Gabriel Rios filed a complaint on July 10 in the Fresno County Superior Court against Alisa Ruth and Does 1-10 alleging negligence, strict liability and premises liability.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 17 Rios was visiting his in-laws, who reside in a home adjacent to defendant Ruth's premises. The suit states while he was in his in-laws' yard helping to remove a tree stump, a German shepherd dog escaped from the defendant's property and bit his left upper arm.

The plaintiff holds Ruth responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly secure, confine or restrain the dog within the premises.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for special and general damages and for such further and other relief the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Jason A. Helsel of Fowler Helsel Vogt in Fresno.
