FRESNO — People who bought new houses from Centex Homes are suing the developer for more than $50,000 per house, alleging poor construction and violations of the state building code.

Meschele and Greg Schoolfield; Kamal Kaur and Gurvinder Sangha; Kuldip Singh and Rupinder Kauer, et al., filed a complaint on July 24, in the Fresno County Superior Court, against Centex Homes and Does 1-1000. They allege that the defendant violated the Building Standards in the California Civil Code.

They are seeking damages to cover restoration, repairs and relocation costs as necessary.

Plaintiffs allege in the lawsuit that in 2003 each of them purchased the property, built and constructed by defendants. They claim the new houses were "defective" and "unfit for intended purposes," because of poor construction.

Plaintiffs claim they have relied on defendants express representations that the properties are properly constructed in exchange for payment that they have provided.

The plaintiffs holds Centex Homes; and Does 1-1000 responsible because the defendant allegedly breached the sales contracts by failing to provide residences constructed in a workmanlike manner.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for costs of restoration and repairs to property in excess of $50,000 per home, costs, expert fees, loss of use of the property and relocation expenses, and for such other and further relief as the Court deems just and appropriate.

They are represented by Levi Plesset of Milstein Jackson Fairchild & Wade, LLP in Los Angeles.
