LOS ANGELES – A Tujunga man alleges a debt collector called him repeatedly to reach an unknown third party.

William Chitwood filed a complaint on July 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Diversified Consultants Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in September 2017, the defendant contacted him in an attempt to speak to a third party named Scott Chamberlain. He alleges he told the defendant that he does not know any person by that name and requested the defendant stop calling him.

The plaintiff holds Diversified Consultants Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly violated the FDCPA by repeatedly calling the plaintiff to contact the third party.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for actual and statutory damages, attorney's fees, witness fees, court costs and other litigation costs, and other relief deemed appropriate by the court. He is represented by Amy L. Bennecoff Ginsburg of Kimmel & Silverman PC in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
