LOS ANGELES – An Orange County consumer alleges she paid more for a salt product that was misrepresented as organic.

Erika Garcia, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated, filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against Frontier Natural Products Cooperative alleging violation of the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act and the California False Advertising Law.

According to the complaint, the defendant sells flavors of salt it markets as organic, including Simply Organic All Seasons Salt. She alleges she purchased the defendant's product believing that the products were organic and healthier than regular salt.

She alleges the salt cannot be labeled organic because under federal law, "organic" cannot be used to identify salt ingredients.

The plaintiff holds Frontier Natural Products Cooperative and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendants allegedly misrepresented their products.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order certifying this action as a class action and appointing plaintiff and her counsel as representatives, award for compensatory and punitive damages, with interest, attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses. She is represented by Scott. J. Ferrell of Pacific Trial Attorneys in Newport Beach.
