Mayer Brown issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.

Mayer Brown announced today that Michelle Ontiveros Gross has joined the firm as a Technology Transactions partner in Northern California. She joins from Davis Polk.

“Michelle brings a diverse intellectual property and technology transactions practice that nicely complements our strong capabilities in Northern California and beyond,” said Brad Peterson, the leader of Mayer Brown’s Technology Transactions group. “She is ideally positioned to serve our clients in the private equity and financial services sectors, as well as clients seeking counsel on data privacy, cybersecurity and technology issues. We are delighted to welcome her to the firm.”

Ms. Gross advises companies on a wide range of IP-related matters, including strategic alliances, joint ventures, and licensing, as well as IP strategy and commercialization, copyright, patent and trademark matters and integration of business units and product lines in connection with mergers and acquisitions. In addition, she represents clients on large-scale, complex business process and information technology outsourcing transactions across a broad range of functions. Her practice also includes advising on data privacy and security matters, including cybersecurity, technology and data initiatives, the development of privacy and data security policies and product development.

“Mayer Brown has done a terrific job of fortifying its technology and corporate capabilities in Northern California,” said Ms. Gross. “I was also attracted to the firm’s strength in areas of critical importance to technology companies, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, technology transactions and other IP transactional matters, as well as its regulatory capabilities. I hope to provide a fresh perspective on these and other matters to the firm’s impressive client roster.”

Ms. Gross joins partners Jennifer Carlson, Nina Flax and Rohith George, who have collectively expanded Mayer Brown’s growing corporate and tech transactions capabilities in Northern California.

“Michelle will be a valuable asset in serving our clients in the tech and financial services sectors,” added Ward Johnson, the partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s Northern California offices. “Her arrival marks a significant step in our continued growth here in Northern California.”
