FedEx Freight employees allege they lost their jobs because of their disabilities

Lawsuits
Wrongful term 12

SACRAMENTO – Two West Sacramento residents allege they were terminated by their employer after more than a decade of employment because of their disabilities.

Richard Rice and Demetrius D. Jacobs filed a complaint on Sept. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California against FedEx Freight Inc. and Does 1-25 alleging wrongful termination and discrimination based on disability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs worked for the defendant and have medical conditions that affect their ability to perform daily activities. They allege they were terminated shortly after informing management of the disabilities.

The plaintiffs hold FedEx Freight Inc. and Does 1-25 responsible because the defendants allegedly breached their duties by terminating employees for their disabilities instead of accommodating them.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against defendants for general, special and punitive damages; interest; civil penalties; attorneys' fees; and costs. They are represented by James C. Ashworth of The Ashworth Law Office in Sacramento.
