Jackson Lewis LLP issued the following announcement on July 11.

Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Principals Gina M. Roccanova and Donald P. Sullivan have joined the firm’s San Francisco office.

“We are thrilled Gina and Don have joined our growing San Francisco team,” said San Francisco Office Managing Principal Lisa Barnett Sween. “Gina is a prominent practitioner who is well-known for her experience in labor relations and her track record of delivering effective, efficient results while working in the public and private sectors. Don is a seasoned litigator with experience in ERISA and employment law matters. As a trusted adviser in the employee benefits arena, he will further enhance our growing national Employee Benefits practice.“

“Gina and Don are both exceptional attorneys, and their arrival will expand the office’s service capabilities and meet the growing client demand in San Francisco,” Sween added.

Gina M. Roccanova joins the firm from Meyers Nave where she was a Principal and Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. Ms. Roccanova focuses her practice on labor relations, advice and counseling, workplace investigations, and training. She has negotiated labor agreements with the SEIU, transit unions, the IAFF, Stationary Engineers, crafts unions, and other employee organizations for a variety of public sector, non-profit, and private sector clients. She regularly represents clients in healthcare, public protection, railroad, transit, building management, education, retail, and other settings in discipline, contract interpretation, interest arbitration, unfair labor practice charges and fact-finding proceedings.

Ms. Roccanova has also handled representation and decertification petitions for clients before the Public Employment Relations Board and has defended clients against unfair labor practice charges incident to organizing campaigns. She has advised public and private-sector clients on issues such as permissible parameters of organizational picketing and pamphleting; rules limiting management communication with employees before and during organizational campaigns and elections; proper conduct of elections; and bargaining unit determination.

Donald P. Sullivan joins the firm Wilson Elser where he focused his practice on employee benefits and compensation and employment litigation. Mr. Sullivan counsels and defends clients in litigation, arbitration and compliance matters. He also provides ready and reliable counsel on disputes occurring in the workplace, as well as those involving group and individual life, health, disability and long-term care insurance policies; self-funded ERISA pension and welfare benefit plans; and managed care contracts between medical care providers.

In Mr. Sullivan’s employment practice, he has defended clients in cases involving wage-and-hour disputes and cases alleging discrimination. He has extensive experience handling single-plaintiff and class action claims brought under ERISA and regularly defends individual insurance policies in bad faith and breach of contract cases seeking punitive damages.
