Jackson Lewis P.C. issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.
Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Harold R. Jones has joined the firm’s San Francisco office as a Principal. Mr. Jones has more than 15 years of experience providing employment-related counseling and litigation services to management in a wide range of areas. He is the second new partner to recently join the firm’s growing San Francisco office, following the arrival of litigator Kevin D. Reese.
"Harold has a strong reputation in the San Francisco business and legal community, and we are thrilled he joined the team,” said San Francisco Office Managing Principal Lisa Barnett Sween. “As our team in San Francisco continues to grow, we are looking for talented laterals who will help our clients successfully navigate difficult legal issues. Harold was a natural choice for our team and brings a unique perspective to the firm. His experience will further strengthen our ability to service clients in California and will be an advantage for our clients who are facing a complex regulatory landscape, particularly in this state.”
Mr. Jones has significant experience working with employers to solve workplace-related problems. He has defended clients in the full range of civil actions before California courts and state and federal administrative agencies. Mr. Jones frequently represents employers against claims of gender, race, disability and discrimination under, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, and other related federal and state statutes, as well as wrongful termination, breach of contract, defamation, invasion of privacy and many other employment-related matters.
“Jackson Lewis has a ‘people-first’ culture and a service oriented atmosphere that is different from what attorneys find at most large firms,” said Jones. “I am excited to join a team where the attorneys take a collegial and collaborative approach to helping clients. The firm understands that investing in attorney support, as well as clients, pays off in the long-term. The attorneys believe that more can be accomplished by sharing and taking advantage of the firm’s rich network, which is a rarity in law firm culture. Overall, Jackson Lewis’ culture, innovative technology and client-focused solutions were a good fit for my expanding practice."
Mr. Jones regularly advises employers in the areas of hiring, background investigations, interactive process, reasonable accommodation issues, wage and hour compliance, employee discipline, terminations, employee handbooks, drug testing, and severance negotiations. He frequently represents local and national employers in the financial services, hospitality, healthcare, staffing, manufacturing, retail, transportation and technology industries.
Prior to his time as an attorney, Mr. Jones was a police officer in Oakland, California for 10 years. He earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and his B.A. from San Francisco State University.
