MAYER BROWN: Larry Langdon receives Moritz College of Law Alumni Society’s George V. Voinovich Public Service Award

Mayer Brown issued the following announcement on Oct. 1.

Mayer Brown announced that Tax Controversy partner Larry Langdon (Palo Alto) was named the 2020 recipient of the George V. Voinovich Public Service Award from the Moritz College of Law Alumni Society. The award is presented to an alum of the Michael E. Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University (OSU) whose public interest career exemplifies a commitment to promote and provide access to the legal system. Mr. Langdon graduated in 1961.

Throughout his career, Mr. Langdon has been committed to providing pro bono legal services to various non-profit organizations, serving on several boards of non-profits in his community. He has also been a prolific publisher and speaker on numerous scholarly pieces on tax law. Additionally, he has demonstrated a strong philanthropic and community support for OSU and the Moritz College of Law. He currently supports a fellowship in dispute resolution at the college of law and has an academic merit-based scholarship in OSU’s Fisher College of Business. He has also created a planned gift that benefits both the college of law and the college of business.

At Mayer Brown, Mr. Langdon brings comprehensive experience in the areas of tax controversy and planning to clients’ service. He has extensive knowledge in federal tax policies and applications. Before joining the firm in 2003, Mr. Langdon held senior positions with the US Internal Revenue Service (Commissioner, Large & Mid-Size Business Division; Legislation and Regulations Division, Office of Counsel; and Joint Committee Division, Office of Chief Counsel) and in the private sector with leading firms.
