Greenberg Traurig, LLP issued the following announcement on Feb. 8.

Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP Shareholder Charles Birenbaum is participating in a series of business-centered workgroups on the future of electric vehicles in California, hosted by the California Chamber of Commerce’s (CalChamber) Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Birenbaum is chair of the committee for the 2021 session, and has served on the CalChamber Board of Directors since 2017.

Designed in conjunction with Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent executive order directing the state to require that all new cars and passenger trucks sold within California be zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) by 2035, the CalChamber virtual workshop series is titled, “Getting to 2035: Opportunities and Challenges for Electric Vehicles in California.”

The workshop series will include the following topics:

  • The State of the Automotive Industry
  • Utilities and Infrastructure
  • The State of the Fueling Industry
  • Small Business and Agricultural Consumers
Birenbaum serves as the firm’s chair of Northern California and co-chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice’s Labor-Management Relations group. He is an experienced labor and employment attorney who focuses his practice on traditional labor and employment law matters and has wide-ranging experience litigating in state and federal courts, as well as with various administrative agencies.

CalChamber’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is dedicated to implementing chamber policy, such as support for developing and maintaining an efficient, integrated network of roads, transit, rail, ports, and aviation facilities that are highly accessible for all users; support for strong economic growth; and encouragement for a high quality of life. According to its website, CalChamber is the largest broad-based business advocacy group in California, working at the state and federal levels for policies that strengthen California’s business landscape.
