REDWOOD CITY - Fitness 19 San Bruno faces charges in the San Mateo County Superior Court from a woman who says a weight fell on her face and caused permanent disfiguration, according to a lawsuit filed on Feb. 16.
Plaintiff Devanshi Dave was at the gym working with a personal trainer in Feb. 2019 when, according to the suit, a weight "fell quickly and without warning" and struck Devanshi in the face.
Dave suffered serious injuries that required medical attention and impacted her current employment and her ability to be employed, the lawsuit said.
The plaintiff filed one charge of negligence against Fitness 19 as well as one charge of negligent supervision, hiring and retention, seeking general damages, medical expenses, loss of wages and other expenses deemed appropriate by the court.
