A class action lawsuit has been filed against a veterinary service provider, alleging widespread labor violations affecting numerous employees. The complaint was lodged by Megan Hacker on April 7, 2025, in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, targeting Adobe Veterinary Centers, LP and National Veterinary Associates, Inc.

The lawsuit accuses the defendants of engaging in unfair competition and failing to adhere to various labor laws, including those related to minimum wage and overtime payments. Hacker claims that she and other similarly situated employees were not compensated for all hours worked, particularly when required to work off-the-clock during meal breaks or while performing tasks such as COVID-19 screenings before clocking in. "Defendant requires Plaintiff to work while clocked out during what is supposed to be Plaintiff’s off-duty meal break," the complaint states. Furthermore, the company allegedly rounded down recorded work hours to benefit itself financially.

Hacker's complaint also highlights the company's failure to provide accurate itemized wage statements and reimbursement for necessary business expenses incurred by employees using personal devices for work purposes. The lawsuit alleges that these practices constitute an unlawful business strategy aimed at retaining wages owed to employees. In addition to monetary compensation for unpaid wages and penalties, Hacker seeks injunctive relief prohibiting the defendants from continuing these alleged illegal practices.

Representing Hacker are attorneys from Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP. The case is presided over by Judge J. Nguyen under Case No. 25CV462889.
