Sex assault case against Uber says company negligently hired driver

SAN FRANCISCO - A heap of charges including sexual battery were filed by an anonymous woman against Uber in the San Francisco County Superior Court. 

According to documents filed on March 4, the unnamed plaintiff is a Santa Clara County resident. In 2019, she hired an Uber on a late night. 

The plaintiff alleges that the Uber driver tasked with getting her safely to her destination sexually harassed her near San Jose, and prevented her from escaping the vehicle. 

The transportation company is charged with negligent hiring, supervision, training and retention, negligence by misfeasance, negligence by nonfeasance, assault, sexual battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, common carrier negligence and negligence. 

The woman seeks punitive damages from Uber for injuries, medical expenses, loss of wages and more. She is represented by Williams Hart Boundas Easterby LLP and ADZ Law LLP.
