REDWOOD CITY - Facebook faces charges in San Mateo Superior Court for allegedly violating its own terms of service, according to a lengthy lawsuit filed on March 25 in the San Mateo County Superior Court.

The charges were filed by plaintiff John A. Fetto, a lawyer who says his personal Facebook account has been wrongfully suspended multiple times due to the social media platform's alleged faulty and inconsistent automated content monitoring algorithms.

The plaintiff accuses the platform of wrongfully using more severe punitive action against frequent violators of their terms of service.

Fetto further complains that, when he was prompted by Facebook to upload his driver's license to reinstate his account, the platform failed to register his ID throughout 17 attempts over multiple weeks. Additionally, he says that Facebook makes it nearly impossible to speak with a live human person if support is needed, instead relying heavily on automated systems and forums.

Facebook is charged with breach of contract and negligence. Fetto is self-represented.
