SAN FRANCISCO - Multiple civil allegations against the New York-based Nixon Peabody LLP include disability discrimination, retaliation and others.

According to the complaint filed on April 2 in the San Francisco County Superior Court, plaintiff Daniel Valles accepted a job offer in May 2017 from the global law firm that was lower in salary than his current employment but offered a 10% bonus on fees collected by the firm.

Valles says that the defendant took away his bonus in early 2018 in a breach of his employment contract, and that he was allegedly threatened with punishment if he voiced his complaint about the breach of contract any further.

The plaintiff further accuses the firm of mistreating him while he was on a two-month medical leave to treat a concussion and believes he was retaliated against for first complaining about his bonus being taken away and then taking a medical leave.

Valles also alleges that the firm refused to pay for expenses that should have been reimbursed.

Despite indications that he was going to be made partner, Valles was terminated in April of 2019 with no specific reason.

The firm is charged with discrimination based on disability, CFRA violation through discrimination and interference, retaliation, failure to prevent discrimination and retaliation, wrongful termination, Labor Code violation and breach of contract.

Valles is represented by Labor Law PC.
