San Francisco Baykeeper alleges company in violation of storm water permit

Federal Court
San francisco bay(300)

SAN FRANCISCO -- An environmental advocate is suing a company for an alleged violation of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act.

San Francisco Baykeeper filed a complaint on July 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Global Plating, Inc., a California corporation, for violation of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act.

San Francisco Baykeeper alleges that Global Plating, since May 7, 2016, has violated the General Industrial Storm Water Permit issued by the State of California because of ongoing and continuous failures to comply with the general permit’s technology-based and water quality-based standards, planning and monitoring requirements, and other procedural and substantive requirements.

Baykeeper seeks a declaratory judgment, injunctive relief, the imposition of civil penalties, and the award of costs, including attorney and expert witness fees, for Defendant’s repeated and ongoing violations of the Act and General Permit. Baykeeper is represented by Jesse C. Swanhuyser of Sycamore Law, Inc.
