SAN FRANCISCO -- A man is suing the City of San Pablo after allegedly getting falsely arrested and attacked by a K-9 unit.

Jamar Lindsey filed a federal complaint on August 11 in the U.S. District Court Northern District of California against the City of San Pablo and Does 1-50 in their official capacity as police officers excessive force, emotional distress and denial of medical care.

According to the complaint, on February 24, 2021, at approximately 10:20 p.m., Jamar Lindsey was waiting at the bus stop located in front of the Jack in the Box when a San Pablo police officer approached him and began to question him for reasons unknown.

Two additional San Pablo police officers allegedly arrived at the scene and the initial officer proceeded to retrieve his dog out of his patrol vehicle. The two officers allegedly tackled Lindsey to the ground and he laid helplessly while being handcuffed.

The dog viciously attacked Lindsey’s leg for approximately 1-2 minutes while two officers were on top of him, the suit says. Lindsey was transported to the hospital and received treatment for the injuries he sustained from the unjustified K-9 attack, the suit says.

Lindsay seeks general, special and punitive damages, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Lindsay is represented by John L. Burris.
