Class action suit brought against makers of Sure and Brut deodorants

Federal Court

SACRAMENTO - Mary Molina and Carlo Garcia filed a federal class action complaint on December 1 in the Eastern District Court of California against HRB Brands, LLC., Helen of Troy Ltd. and Idelle Labs, Ltd.

According to the lawsuit, Defendants manufacture, produce, market and sell the products Sure Unscented Aerosol antiperspirant and Brut Classic 24- Hour Protection aerosol antiperspirant, which are defective in that they contain chemical benzene, a known carcinogen that offers no therapeutic deodorant or antiperspirant benefit.

Defendant is alleged to have manufactured, marketed and sold defective and harmful products to consumers without disclosing to consumers through the product label, ingredient list or in other forms as to the danger of using said products could cause.

Molina seeks an order enjoining Defendants from continuing to engage in the unlawful conduct, an order requiring disgorgement of the monies Defendants wrongfully acquired by their illegal and deceptive conduct. Molina is represented by Alex R. Straus of Beverly Hills.
