Doctor, hospital sued for patient's fall during surgery

SAN FRANCISCO - A hospital and doctor are being sued for allowing a patient to fall of the table during surgery.

Peter and Jennifer Luke filed a lawsuit on Jan. 4 in the San Francisco County Superior Court against Dignity Health d.b.a St. Mary's Medical Center, John P. Harris M.D. and Does 1-100 for health care provider negligent leading to injury or death.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 14, 2020, Peter Luke went to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment and underwent a nephrostomy procedure performed by Harris. While on the surgical table and not properly strapped down, Luke fell off the table to the ground, striking his head on the floor, causing a facial laceration and subdural hematoma, the suit says.

Luke was caused to suffer personal injury, disability and emotional distress. 

The Lukes seek a judgment for general damages, special damages, damages for loss of earnings, damages for loss of capacity to earn income and damages for loss of homemaking. The Luke's are represented by Koorosh K. Shahrokh of the National Choice Lawyers.
